How are you preparing for the New Year?

With the new year quickly approaching, it seems that everyone is talking about resolutions and trying to find balance for 2017. I know that I definitely am too! This year has brought so many emotions, questions, issues, learning lessons, and growth and I know I'm so very ready to leave 2016 is the dust!! Whether your year has been challenging or not, the ending of one year and the start of another is a great time to press the reset button and start fresh. It's a great time to try new things, meet new people, and push yourself out of your comfort zone.

My challenges and triumphs have opened my eyes to so many things both as a mom and as a newly single woman after 17 years of being someone's partner. My kids and I have learned that we will be not just okay but GREAT in our "new normal" life and that even though things are different we are still a family. Each of my children are thriving at their own levels and I am so very proud of them. In my life, I have taken the past several month to reconnect with myself and get reacquainted with who I am and what I want out of life. I have had the opportunity to meet new people and experience new things and I am excited to see where these new opportunities will take me in the new year.

One main thing that I have really tried to focus on during these challenging times is health and well being. Some of my favorite things are Barre Class, running, weight lifting, yoga, and trying to eat healthy. A couple of my favorite apps to do workouts at home are Yoga Studio, by Gaiam Inc., Asana Rebel, and Nike+Training Club. My current favorite cleanse and maintenance program is Purium which gives me more energy and clarity thoughout my day. I use a couple of apps that keep me on schedule and organized and truly couldn't live without. The app, Our Groceries, keeps all of my shopping lists in one spot and I always have them with me so if I make a last minute stop I know exactly what I need. My Todoist app is great for me keeping track of my kids appointments and things I have to get done. It's great because it allows me to have different projects going all at the same time and to give priorities to certain tasks.

It's also important to take time to relax and spend time with friends or just lay on the couch and read a good book, my book of choice is The Fallout by Tamar Cohen. No matter where you are in your life, you need to make time for yourself in the new year. I always believe that to be the best mom and friend, I need to make sure that I take care of myself first and foremost. It's not always easy to do but it will make a difference in everyone's life.

Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2017!
