4 simple workouts that you can do anywhere!

With the new year here, I know I am working on all of my resolutions and trying to find balance in 2017. How are you working to find your balance? As a mom of 3 busy children, I find it crucial to make sure I get some sort of workout in daily and let me tell you some days it's down right difficult to make time to get to the gym or to take a class. I have had to get creative with how to make sure I can carve out at least 20-30 minutes daily to clear my mind and find that balance.

The first thing I did was take a trip to Target to pick up some 3, 5, and 8 pound weights http://www.target.com/p/c9-neoprene-hand-weights/-/A-51920389, a 10 pound weighted medicine ball http://www.target.com/p/empower-10-lbs-fingertip-grip-medicine-ball-with-dvd/-/A-14256058, and a yoga mat http://www.target.com/p/gaiam-citron-sundial-yoga-mat-5mm/-/A-16392853. These items I will keep at home for when I am too busy to go to the gym.

One of my go to exercises that works my full body are squats, I always try to do 4 sets of 25 and to make this exercise a little more challenging, hold the weighted medicine ball or weights while doing your squat.

Push ups are another great exercise that can work your entire body whether you can do a full push up or on your knees. You can also add the hand weights to make things more difficult. I do 3 sets of 20 daily.

Planks are vital to any good workout. Make sure you are tucking your torso and squeeze everything from the inside out. Try and hold your pose for 30 seconds and build to a minute. I try and do 3-4 sets of planks.

Finally, I end with sit ups. You can use the weighted medicine ball for some of your ab work to make things more challenging. Leg lifts, crunches, V lifts, bicycles, and side crunches are all in my daily routine to cover all areas of my abs. I do no less than 200 daily and I'm trying to work up to more as I get stronger.

You can do all of these exercises ANYWHERE! So when I travel, I skip using any of the weights and just use my own body weight and may try and add a few extra reps if I have time. By doing the squats, pushups, planks and sit-ups, you are getting a quick full body workout that helps to rev your metabolism and clear you mind to start your day off right when you don't have time for a trip to the gym or take your favorite class.
